Dark and Darker Introduces Controversial Seasonal Character Wipes, Confirms Microtransactions

As the Dark and Dark early access launch continues, Ironmace has confirmed that the RPG game will feature microtransactions and is implementing fixes for stuttering issues. Additionally, the developer has announced a controversial feature found in Dark And Darker Gold other seasonal games such as Dark and Darker, Rust, and Escape from Tarkov.

Ironmace has confirmed that Dark and Darker will include microtransactions, stating that they are a realistic necessity. In response to a question about character wipes, the developer revealed that there will be wipes at the start of each season and preseason, which may frustrate players who prefer to keep their characters long-term. However, there will not be a wipe when the leaderboard opens.

The current plan is to have three-month seasons, but this may change as more data is collected. Ironmace acknowledges that this decision has not been finalized yet.

The developer also addressed the game’s potential return to Steam, stating that they are uncertain if players who already own Dark and Darker will need to purchase it again on Valve’s platform. They hope to get back on Steam in the future and ensure that the player pool is shared between the PC platforms, similar to the current arrangement between Chafgames and Blacksmith users.

With the introduction of seasonal character wipes, players are encouraged to acquaint themselves with the Dark and Darker classes to make informed choices for their builds. Alternatively, they can explore other multiplayer games currently available on PC.

Dark and Darker Enters Early Access Amid Legal Issues

Dark and Darker, developed by Ironmace Games, has entered early access despite ongoing legal problems. Ironmace Games, a Korean company, has released the game independently through its own launcher and is selling it directly. However, the game’s release in Korea is currently on hold pending approval from the Korean Game Rating Board.

The legal issues surrounding Dark and Darker stem from Dark And Darker Gold for sale a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Nexon, another Korean company. Nexon alleges that Ironmace stole assets from one of their projects, codenamed P3, and used them in the creation of Dark and Darker. Notably, two key employees at Ironmace were previously employed at Nexon and worked on the project in question.
